Mythological Significance of Chandragiri Hills (Bhaleshwor Mahadev)
It is known that Shiva carried the Satidevi’s (first wife of Shiva) dead body whole round of the earth. Due to the decomposition of her body, some body parts fell down to different parts of the world where pilgrimages sites were established.
It is believed that the Hindu temple “Bhaleshwor Mahadeva” was also established on one of the sites, where Satidevi’s forehead (Bhala) had fallen. People come here to worship Bhaleshwor to get their wishes fulfilled and believed that one will find a place in Lord Shiva’s (heaven) world after their life.
Historical Significance of Chandragiri Hills
Chandragiri hill also carries its own significance as well. King Prithvi Narayan Shah were caught the very first glimpse (sight) of the Kathmandu valley and got the idea to conquer the valley.
He was the King who unified Nepal and kept Kathmandu valley as the capital of his Kingdom. There is the myth about Bhaleshwor Mahadev had granted the wish of Prithvi Narayan Shah.

How to reach at the Chandragiri hill top:
One can reach at the top of the hill either by cable car or by walk. Cable car would be operating from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm on weekdays, and 7:00 am to 6:00 pm on weekends and public holidays. But by walk it takes 3 hours to reach on top. Here is the cable car cost details:
