Holi festival is one of the important festival, mostly celebrated by the Hindus in Nepal and all over the world. This festival falls on the month of Falgun, generally between the end of February and mid march.
This festival is mainly celebrated for different reasons.. One of the very few reasons is the triumph over evil by good.. People from different communities gather around and splash different colors and splash water at each other. It is also the significance of love. People dance, sing and perform different activities to rejuvenate themselves.
Holi festival is celebrated for two days in some places. Just before the main day, people gather and make a huge bonfire. It is said that the evil Holika was burnt there. As a reason, people worship the holy fire and pray that their internal negativity or bad deeds be destroyed there. Since it lies at the end of February, people as well, welcome spring along with this festival. Also they thank the god for the better harvest.
Though Hindus celebrate it, people from other countries also play Holi as color run.. People drink Bhaang, eat different foods and visit different places to make sure everyone is painted with the color of love. One of the beautiful parts about this festival is, no matter where are you from, no matter where you belong, people don’t differentiate each other and play this festival jolly and happening.
